The McRaven house is known to be one of Mississippi's MOST HAUNTED HOUSES.
The McRaven house was called home by many throughout it’s life. It first opened to the public in 1961. Nowadays, through tours and hunts, you can take a step back in time to see what Vicksburg was like during the pre-Civil War era. The McRaven home has been used as a home, a Confederate campsite and a field hospital.
National Geographic has called this home the “Time Capsule of the South” due to it’s museum-worthy authentic antiques.
What makes this home so unique isn’t the fact that it underwent substantial additions in three different time periods, but that each time an addition occurred, the previous space was left almost untouched- leaving much of the original furniture, decorations and architectural design the same.
The McRaven House holds haunted tours, history tours and some seasonal ghost hunts.
