Break out your kilts, bagpipes, and all your Irish goodies because the 27th annual CelticFest Mississippi will be happening at the Mississippi Agriculture & Forestry Museum March 29 and 30.
CelticFest Mississippi is the main outgrowth of the Celtic Heritage Society’s mission to promote awareness and appreciation of the Celtic nations music, dance, and culture in Mississippi and the region.
The Celtic Heritage Society (CHS) is a nonprofit organization run on 100% volunteer power. The CHS has no paid staff, and money raised at CelticFest pays the costs incurred while organizing the event. It also pays for other CHS projects.
Enjoy 27 acts on 5 stages plus workshops, Irish dancing, and the South’s largest Ceili.
Other activities celebrating Celtic culture include livestock exhibits, blacksmith demonstrations, Highland Games demonstrations, and a whiskey tasting (Saturday, 5-8 pm).
Highland Games are open to the public to try on Saturday. Sign a waiver and for just $5, you too can be an awesome Scot! Kilt not required but encouraged!
Most of the festival stages are indoors, so CelticFest goes on rain or shine. Several vendors selling food and innumerable Celtic items will be on site as well.
All of the stages and workshop areas have chairs available, so no lawn chairs or blankets are necessary. However, if spreading a blanket on the grass is your thing, go for it!
