The walk will be lead by retired director of the MS Museum of Natural Science, Libby Hartfield, and her husband Paul, who is a biologist with the US Fish and Wildlife service. This lightning duo has been studying snappy syncs since 2015, right here in Mississippi.
Photuris frontalis, AKA snappy syncs are only around for a sort period of time each year. These rare fireflies call Mississippi home, along with a few other places in the world.
In attempts to woo the lady fireflies, the males light up in sync with one another! They flash as a beautiful symphony of light.
