The story behind the Williams Brothers General store!

The Williams General Store is full of traditions, goodies and so much more that keep locals and visitors coming thru the doors.

The Williams Brothers general store opened in 1907, and ever since then they have been giving the community of Philadelphia a place to grab just about anything they need. The general store still has a little of everything.

Sid Williams, 3rd generation part owner and operator shares,  “Well, it’s a general merchandise store and running on the same principals it was started on by Amzie and Brown in 1907 ”

Some of those principals are stocking the produce section with fresh/ local produce, selling local/ unique goods and one thing you don’t want to miss out on- the bacon and cheese that they cut in store just for you.

“We are known for our slab bacon and hoop cheese. It’s an old time slab bacon, we slice it right here. It’s not something that’s already packed up. They order it, they say they want it lean or fat or thick or thin, so we slice it.”

But the delicious bacon and cheese isn’t the only thing the General Store is known for. Sid’s sister, Olivia Manning is mother to football stars Eli and Peyton and is one of the owners of the general store. It’s relationship with the Manning family explains the jerseys hanging from the ceiling and the photos of young Eli and Peyton covering the walls.
