We celebrated National Chicken Month and National Waffle Week by grabbing some chicken AND waffles from Sugar's Place in Downtown Jackson.
Sugar’s place was founded by Glenda Cage Barner and her son Donovan. Donovan was working in corporate America and wanted a change, as Glenda puts it, “Donovan had a dream and she had some money, and here they are.”
I bet you’re wondering where the name came from. Sugar’s Place is named after Glenda’s mother’s nickname. Her name was Velma but Glenda’s father thought she was so sweet, they named her Sugar.
At Sugar’s everyone is treated like family. If you’re a customer here, you’re more than just a number, if you stop by a few times they know you by name.Glenda said she would like the legacy to be great service and great food
Whether you’re in the mood for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Sugar’s Place has something for you. It’s a true local gem with southern favorites like Catfish, Barbecue Chicken, and all the fixins! Make sure you come to downtown Jackson to check them out for a warm southern hospitality and delicious food.
