Light up the weekend with fireflies and social distancing

Enjoy a rare opportunity to experience the magic of the South’s most impressive population of synchronous “snappy sync” fireflies along Mississippi’s historic Natchez Trace Parkway all while maintaining social distancing guidelines at the Snappy Sync Soiree!

“We have pivoted to reflect our new normal, and the National Park Service is allowing us to host a series of small-group firefly viewing opportunities over three nights!! Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 15-17 from 8:00 p.m. to 10 p.m.”

Photuris frontalis, AKA snappy syncs are only around for a sort period of time each year. These rare fireflies call Mississippi home, along with a few other places in the world.

In attempts to woo the lady fireflies, the males light up in sync with one another! They flash as a beautiful symphony of light.

**To allow for social-distancing, guests will be required to pre-register for a 20-minute viewing time. Only 10 guests will be allowed per viewing time.**

Cost: $2 per person.  Register online HERE.

Participants are advised to wear bug spray and bring a flash light. Parking is available at the craft center.

The event will take place at the Bill Waller MS Craft Center.

Contact director@mscrafts.org for more information or call the Craft Center at 601-856-7546.
