The Little Dooey™ Southern BBQ Restaurant

The Little Dooey™ is known for it’s BQQ, but that isn’t the only thing you will find them serving up!

From delicious BBQ & Mississippi, farm-raised catfish to Crawfish, shrimp and oysters, Barry and Margaret Ann Wood, the founders of Little Dooey™, are no strangers to all the classic food that Mississippians hold near and dear to their hearts.

The name “little dooey” comes from an old family tradition where “a little dooey” means a fun gathering of friends and family.”

Now, we all know that great food is only so great, sometimes you just GOT to have that sauce. ESPECIALLY on BBQ. That’s where The Little Dooey™ all started.

The Little Dooey opened its door in 1985 and served up homemade barbeque sauce. Little Dooey’s online history story shares that soon after they started selling that delicious sauce, “The response from customers was overwhelming, and soon the growing local demand for their delicious food prompted them to open the first restaurant in Starkville which became an instant success.”

Today, they serve up BBQ, seafood, sandwiches, poboys, southern sides, salads and even wraps!

Even though they operate a full restaurant, you can still purchase their delectable sauces and rubs in house!

The Veranda Restaurant

The Veranda has been up and running since 2003.

“The Blue Plates are extremely popular so we see several people come in for those, both for their speed and affordable price. The dinner menu is also a favorite, with tasty steaks and seafood entrees. The bar has its own vibe and culture so to speak. As a result we receive and maintain a solid following in the bar as well. It’s where we do things like Trivia and Dawg Talk (the radio show). As a result, the mix of a fine dining atmosphere in the main part of the restaurant and the low key, casual aura of the Bar produce quite a unique and popular combination. We enjoy it and hope to do it for many more years.”
