When the sun is hot and the humidity is high, there is nothing better than cooling off with a juicy, sweet snow cone! Of course, that is true when the day is cool and the humidity low, too.

Here are nine places in central Mississippi where you can get your snow cone fix!

Nandy's Candy

Where: 1220 E Northside Dr #380, Jackson

The Scoop: Nandy’s Candy is a Jackson tradition, so with temps heating up, you can expect a line out into the parking lot. Nandy’s authentic New Orleans’ snowballs are the way to go — you can’t go wrong with the famous Rainbow or other delicacies like Shock Tart.

Popular flavors: Captain America and Hawaiian Breeze

Don’t miss: You can’t forget the doggos! Ask for a Pup Cup for your four-legged friends.

Seating and atmosphere: Nandy’s has the cutest rainbow tables that are the perfect size for the kiddos. Grab your favorite flavor and take a break from the summer heat.

Info: Nandy’s opens the Friday before Spring Break and they are serving Jackson’s favorite snowballs through late October. They are open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The Scoop: Sno-Biz is pretty much synonymous with snow cones in Jackson. From the classic rainbow to strawberry cheesecake, these snow cones can be found all over the map. Choose your favorite flavor and then top it off with ice cream, sour spray, and more.

Popular flavors: Wedding Cake with creme, ninja juice, and The Hulk with green apple, lime, kiwi syrup, and sour spray

Bop's Frozen Custard

Where: Jackson, Flowood, Brandon, and Vicksburg

The Scoop: Although they are known for their frozen custardBop’s is dishing up shaved ice and Italian ice all year round, so you don’t have to go without your snowcone fix.

Popular flavors: Blue Raspberry and Tiger’s Blood

Don’t miss: The green apple snowcone with sour spray

Seating and atmosphere: The Jackson location is a double drive-through, but they have a super cute seating area with string lights that provide the perfect backdrop for a very likable Instagram photoshoot!

Snow Critters

Where: 1049 Gluckstadt Road, Madison / 1491 Canton Mart Rd, Jackson

The Scoop: These are snowballs you’ve never seen before! These critters are topped with gummies, sprinkles, Nerds, cotton candy and much more that you wouldn’t even believe. These frozen treats with a twist will leave you in a sugar coma!

Popular flavors: Fun critters like the Unicorn, Rainbow Lupa, the Crawler all topped with whipped creme, sprinkles, edible glitter, cotton candy, chocolate and much more.

Don’t miss: $2 Tuesdays! If you check-in at Snow Critters on social media, you will get a special discount.

Seating and atmosphere: Snow Critters is a kid’s dream! You walk in and you can smell the sugar! Both locations are the perfect spot for an after school treat or a nice pick-me-up during the hot Mississippi summer.

Info: Their Canton Mart location is open Monday – Friday 12-6. Their Gluckstadt location is open Monday – Saturday 12-6:30 and Sunday 2-6.

The Scoop: Sno Cafe snow cones are full of flavor! It’s shaved ice as you’d find in New Orleans, with all kind of special combinations. Pick your size, favorite flavor and add extras like Sour Patch Kids, sour spray, ice cream, cheesecake, or cream to make it special!

Seating and atmosphere: With seating inside and on the deck, Sno Cafe is the perfect place to beat the heat and enjoy a frosty treat!

Info: Sno Cafe is open Tuesday – Friday 2-6 and Saturday 1-7. They are closed Sunday and Monday and will close up if there is rainy weather.

Popular flavors: Paradise Island and Silver Fox are the most popular for adults while Ocean Pacific, Unicorn, and Ultimate Clown Wig are big with the kids.

Don’t miss: Stuffed strawberry cheesecake will make all of your snow cone dreams come true!

Seating and atmosphere: They have tables with snow cone holders to enjoy your frozen treats and ample room for the kiddos to work off some of that extra energy, you will be making multiple trips to Tropical Sno this summer!

The Scoop: Jill McElroy opened Pookies Shaved Ice in honor of her late husband whose nickname was Pookie. They specialize in snow cones, but you can get all kinds of snacks at the bright treat stand. From Nathan’s hotdogs to chips and Rotel, and even milkshakes and frappes, this cool spot has it all!

Popular flavors: Tiger’s Blood, Banana

Don’t miss: It’s not on the menu, but ask for the cream cheese snowcone! You won’t be disappointed.

Seating and atmosphere: With ample seating and covered tables, you won’t want to leave Pookies! There are dry erase boards for the kids to get creative and even hula hoops for burn off some of that sugar high!

Tutti Fruitti 

Where: 2009 Jerry Clower Blvd, Yazoo City

The Scoop: Tutti Fruitti is a Yazoo City favorite that’s a must try any time you are in the area! From extra large snowcones to Flaming Hot Cheetos with cheese to kool-aid pickles, you won’t be disappointed with a stop at Tutti Fruitti.

Popular flavors: Strawberry, Sour Apple, and Peach.

Don’t miss: The Bug Eye, named after hometown hero and Super Bowl champion Fletcher Cox. The Coach is after the owner’s late brother who was a mentor to many young kids in Yazoo City.

Seating and atmosphere: Most customers enjoy their snowballs to go, but there is a picnic table covered by an umbrella if you want to stay and enjoy your snowball. There is always summertime music to enjoy while you wait or socialize with friends and family!

MLK Snowballs

Where: 1187 North Martin Luther King Jr. Street Natchez

The Scoop: MLK Snowballs were voted “Best Snoball stand in Natchez”. Their motto is “If you find a better tasting Snoball, we’ll buy it for you!”

Don’t miss: The stuffed strawberry cheesecake is a MUST-TRY!

Seating and atmosphere: There is plenty of shade for you to wait for your snowball in a very family, friendly environment.
