Burgers, Burger and more BURGERS! There is no doubt that Central Mississippi has a number of places where you can snag a great tasting patty, and everyone is looking for something different when it comes to these classis patties. Finding your favorite burger may be a tad-bit difficult, so I decided to help out! I narrowed down your best burger search by asking our team here at WLBT where their favorite spot to grab a burger was.
Burgers and Blues
Pictured is the very popular Fry Burger, with Applewood smoked bacon, home cut fries, American cheese, queso cheese and ranch dressing! Holy CHEESE Cow. WLBT’s Mike Sands claims this burger to be the best in town.
Burgers aren’t the only yummy thing BNB is grilling up. They just released a new portion of their menu called “Steve’s Healthy Options”, which includes seared tuna tacos! Burgers & Blues prides itself in being a place where you can take the kids and enjoy a beer at the same time. No matter your age or background Burgers & Blues is a great place to enjoy delish food, yummy drinks and great music.
Brent’s Drug Store
Brent’s Drugs opened for business in 1946, and it wasn’t until 2009 that Brent’s became pharmacy-free. Nowadays they serve delicious milkshakes, scrumptious brunch and one of the best burgers in town. The “Brent’s Burger” is your classic cheeseburger. It has lettuce, tomato, American cheese, pickles and you can add bacon or a fried egg if you’re feeling it. This classic patty took my vote for the best burger in town!
Besides the burger, Brent’s serves breakfast, brunch and has a full-service soda fountain with a soda jerk waiting to hand spin your unique milkshake ingredients into a yummy masterpiece. Brent’s has more than great food; it has a cool cocktail bar in the back of the restaurant. The Apothecary is open Tuesday- Sunday from 5pm to 1am.
The Blue Rooster
The Blue Rooster may be a small café, but they serve up big and delish meals. Burger’s aren’t the only thing this quaint restaurant serves up, from sandwiches to wings to nachos, Blue Rooster has it. WLBT’s General Manager, Ted Fortenberry raves about the burgers at Blue Rooster.
The atmosphere makes you feel like you are sitting in your grandma’s kitchen and the taste of the food does the same.
The Feathered Cow
The Feathered Cow claims that “You never leave the Cow hungry” and WLBT evening anchor, Howard Ballou agrees! They are locally owned and pride themselves on fresh ingredients and yummy food!
The Feathered Cow has 9 specialty burgers that are stacked with a delicious variety of toppings from homemade pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes to grilled portabella mushrooms and homemade chili. If you’re not in the mood for a burger, the Cow also has meatloaf, pulled pork and fried chicken so good, it’ll make you think it came straight from your grandma’s frying pan.
Fondren is FULL of eccentric restaurants and activities, but the burger at Babalu is a fan favorite! Although Babalu specializes in “upscale Latin-inspired” cuisine, the Baba Burger cannot be passed up. The Baba Burger is made from Natural Angus Beef and is topped with yummy roasted roma tomato, white cheddar cheese, avocado, smoked bacon, caramelized onions and chipotle aioli!
Babalu’s slogan is “Yours. Mine. Ours. Food Worth Sharing”, but if your stomach is big enough, this mouth watering patty may have you wanting it all to yourself!
