This museum is home to the largest collection of Jim Henson puppets
Midtown Atlanta is home to the great bars and restaurants you’d expect in a big city like Atlanta, but you’ll also find one of the most unique and magical museums around, and inside it is the world’s largest collection of Jim Henson puppets.
Welcome to the Center for Puppetry Arts!
The center is completely dedicated to puppets and puppetry. You can come see a show in the auditorium, attend a workshop to make your own puppet or see what else the center has on display.
It’s a world of fun, and kids of all ages can walk through thousands of years of puppet history, from the earliest puppets on Earth to Oscar the Grouch.
The collection gallery features puppets from all over the world. And there are over 4,000 puppets in the collection!
But the real show stopper at the Center for Puppetry Arts is the world’s largest collection of Jim Henson’s creations. From Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, to a replica of Henson’s creative space.
The center has been wowing guests and serving both the Atlanta community and the country through its unique area of expertise since 1978, when Kermit the Frog (and Henson of course) cut the ribbon.
Today, it’s the largest American non-profit dedicated just to the art of puppet theater!
If you’d like to see the collection for yourself or stop in for a workshop, the center’s website can help you plan your visit.
